Windows Server 2022 Standard is the widely deployed, widely certified Windows Server release in the edition for physical servers and light virtualisation. It handles Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file and print, IIS, Remote Desktop Services and Hyper-V, and license4u.co delivers the licence key by email.
Why buy 2022 when 2025 exists
Certification. Backup agents, line-of-business applications and hardware vendors often certify Server 2022 long before they certify 2025, and many domains still standardise on it. Support timeline
Windows Server 2022 moves from mainstream to extended support on 13 October 2026 and continues to receive monthly security updates until 14 October 2031, as shown on Microsoft's product lifecycle pages. New features stop; security patches do not.
Standard versus Datacenter
Standard grants rights to two Windows Server VMs plus the host per fully licensed server. For hosts running many VMs or needing Storage Spaces Direct, choose Windows Server 2022 Datacenter.
Licensing notes
Licensed per physical core. User or device CALs are separate, and Remote Desktop Services requires RDS CALs.

Can I upgrade to Server 2025 later?
Yes. Server 2025 supports in-place upgrade from 2022, but it requires its own licence.
