This guide covers activating a Windows 11 Home licence key bought from license4u.co, whether you already have Windows 11 installed or are doing a clean install.
Option A: activate an existing Windows 11 Home install
- Open Settings > System > About and confirm the edition reads Windows 11 Home. A Home key will not activate Pro, Home Single Language or Education.
- Go to Settings > System > Activation and click Change product key.
- Type the 25-character key from your email and click Next. Windows activates over the internet.
Option B: clean install
- Download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's Windows 11 download page and build a bootable USB (8 GB or larger).
- Boot from the USB, select Windows 11 Home as the edition, and enter your key when asked, or skip and add it later under Activation.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account during setup. Once online, activation completes automatically.
If activation fails
Check the edition under About first; a mismatch is the usual cause. Otherwise open an administrator Command Prompt and run slmgr /ipk YOUR-KEY then slmgr /ato. If the error persists, email support@license4u.co with your order number and the exact error code.
